Associate Buyer

This position will assist in new product selection as well as management of active inventory within the categories assigned. Responsibilities will include the following.

  • Monitor the current trends and happenings in the Equine Marketplace
  • Forecast ordering needs as well as ensuring on time delivery from vendors.
  • Follow up with Vendors on delivery issues and management of backorders.
  • Prepare New Product and enter the data into our computer system.
  • Collaborate with our marketing department to ensure items are represented in the best possible way throughout all sales channels.
  • Price management including but not limited to. Ensuring margin goals are met, dealing with vendors to negotiate best pricing and marketing support. Updating all pricing changes at a wholesale and retail level.
  • Acting as Liaison between internal customer service and vendors to ensure customer satisfaction and product information is relayed in a professional manner.  
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting to ensure all the above is in line for product within the assigned categories.
  • Manage and execute measures to ensure mistakes and inaccuracies and discrepancies are identified, addressed, and resolved.
  • Resolve receiving discrepancies- work with warehouse, accounts payable, supplier, and senior buyer to investigate and correct discrepancies and prevent future occurrences.
  • Assist with physical inventory
  • Travel to retail and wholesale trade show to procure and sell product 2-4 x’s per year
  • Visit the warehouse to visually inspect product, packaging and displays
  • Various other assigned duties.

                                                                                                                                                                        

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in all Microsoft office programs, especially Excel.
  • Excellent Organization and planning skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both oral and written form
  • Excellent team player and contributor
  • Able to establish and adhere to time deadlines and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Goal oriented individual who can produce desired results.
  • Experience in purchasing or procurement is highly preferred
  • BA or BS in related field required

Warehouse Team Member - Full Time

Full time position in our Streetsboro warehouse. Responsible for pulling replenishment for our retail store using handheld technology; along with other duties/tasks assigned. Performs necessary housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment. Assists in our drive thru feed room loading feed and pulling customer pickup orders.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Accurately pull products for shipping and replenish on daily basis
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties in the warehouse as needed and assigned
  • Operating floor scrubber and sweeper for cleaning of aisles and walkways
  • Helping shipping department when needed – pulling orders/stacking boxes on skids
  • Stocking merchandise that is received in daily

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Able to meet productivity, quality, safety, and attendance requirements, including overtime as required
  • Hours and Compensation:Monday through Friday 9:30 am — 6:00 pm
  • At least 1 Saturday per month – OT opportunities
  • Salary: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Retail Associate - Full Time

Outstanding opportunity for the horse enthusiast to grow and develop in a fast-paced growing environment. We are seeking a full or part time showroom associate. Big Dee’s takes pride in helping customers find great products at the right prices! If you are an enthusiastic people person with horse knowledge – this is the job for you!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ability to work a flexible scheduling including some Saturdays
  • Ensuring that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
  • Keeping assigned areas neat, organized, and clean
  • Communicating with other members of the team and management with a positive attitude
  • Completing projects in a timely manner
  • Possessing a working knowledge of horses in order to help customers select products

Skills / Education:

  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Strong Verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to take direction from supervisors
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Understanding of basic to intermediate horse care

Hours and Compensation:

  • Full time – 40 hours per week with 3 Saturdays per month
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
