The Dr. Cook Bitless Bridle allows the rider to communicate by painless pressure that is distributed around the whole of the head which is an entirely different concept from all other types of bridles. A bitted bridle enables the rider to communicate by applying pressure on the exquisitely sensitive mouth, and traditional bitless bridles (i.e., the Hackamores, bosals and sidepulls) work primarily through pressure on the nose. A bit often applies harsh pressure to the mouth, over a small area whle the Bitless Bridle distributes its gentle pressure to far less sensitive tissues and distributes even this amount of pressure over a wide area.
Product Details:
- Loops over the poll and over the nose provide even pressure distribution for controlling your horse
- Gives the rider an inoffensive method of communication by applying a nudge to one half of the head (for steering) or a hug to the whole of the head (for stopping)
- Minimal pressure spreads over a large and less critical area makes it more humane than a bit
- Provides better communication, promotes a true partnership between horse and rider, and does not interfere with either breathing or striding
- Can improve performance for many different types of horses
- Beta is a leather-like synthetic composed of a nylon core with a vinyl coating
- Impervious to dirt and sweat & will give you years of use with no maintenance required
- Stays supple in freezing weather and doesn't dry out or get brittle with age
- Durable and easy to clean - just dunk in a bucket of water, swish around and hang to dry
- Slightly grainy surface and low-sheen surface, which gives it a leather-like appearance
- Slightly heavier than nylon so it wont chafe or rub your horse
Proper fit is critical for effectiveness. Check the video tab for details.

"The quality is excellent. I have a black bitless bridle and use knotted rope reins with it. Easy to attach with the reins snap. This is my 2nd bitless bridel headstall and I recommend it to everyone. My horse always had a driving bit when he was a harness racer. I used a D-ring snaffle when I rode him under-saddle. Now he loves the bitless."

"We are teaching individuals with special needs to become independent riders. Our horses are loving the bitless bridles and have adjusted to not having a bit in their mouths. As an Instructor, the bitless bridle gives me a peace of mind that our therapeutic horses wont be mishandled."
