Remission by AniMed Horse Care is for horses that foundered or are prone to founder.

There are many reasons horses founder; possibly the most common relates to insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. Blood Magnesium levels normally rise following glucose ingestion or following a meal high in simple carbs, indicating that Magnesium is involved with the action of insulin to clear the glucose from the blood and important in overcoming and controlling insulin resistance. Chromium is an essential trace mineral which supports glucose metabolism and regulation of insulin levels. Remission contains chromium and magnesium and also provides seventy antioxidants, Omega 3, Omega 6 fatty acids plus all the essential amino acids

Best results occur when Remission is used in conjunction with a feeding program based on a diet high in fiber and low in simple carbophydrates. Should it be necessary to maintain body weight, dietary fat can be added to the feed.

Feed 1 oz per day per 1,000 lbs of body weight until symptoms subside. Then, 1/2 oz per day.

The 10 lb size provides up to a 160 day supply for one horse.

"We have a much beloved and talented 16 year old pony who, in the last couple of years, has developed food sensitivities causing us to have to put him on a dry lot, feed just grass hay and vitamins. We have been using REMISSION for 2 years now, and he gets it once a day no exceptions. His founder episodes have been milder and more brief, and seem to be strongly temperature dependent. I feel the REMISSION has helped tame his reactions to environmental change. He doesnt like it too much, however, so I need to put vegetable oil in his feed to stick it to the pellets. Otherwise, he leaves it in the bottom of his bucket. I would recommend REMISSION to anyone struggling with founder."

"My horse is 4 months into her bout of laminitis. She was a sinker with very thin soles. Xrays at 4 months showed an increased sole growth of an inch and a half. I would highly recommend this supplement . If your horse is insulin resistant there is more you will need to research to give them. But for obtaining maximum hoof growth for laminitis this was a great product, palatable and affordable"
